Handwoven Shawl (O7)
Oh, the warmth and comfort that can be found in wrapping up in an age-old garment such as a shawl is indescribable! This thick Plain Weave shawl is created from all wool materials that were purchased on a recent trip to Prince Edward Island where I visited the mill where the bails of raw wool were visible, waiting for cleaning, carding, combing, spinning and dying. A never-to-be-forgotten experience! The colors chosen are a raspberry pink and dark purple. Measuring 15 inches wide by 90 inches long, with an added 6 inch fringe on each end, this garment is perfect for cool spring, summer and fall evenings or snuggling in by the fire on a winter’s night. There is a hand hemstitched detail between the body of the weaving and the fringe on each end, which consists of a perle cotton fiber; and the fringe is French twisted to keep it in control through cleaning care. You can have this dry cleaned or washed gently in cool water, with a mild soap. Squeeze out the excess water between two terry towels and dry flat.
