Handwoven Shawl (O86)
For serious warmth around the neck and shoulders, this shawl cannot be beat! 100% wool, it is created using a fairly heavy yarn from Prince Edward Island and a favorite company of mine, MacAusland’s Woolen Mill. It was purchased during a recent trip to the island. The colors are a mix of red, charcoal, white and black. The shawl measures 14 and ½ inches wide by 95 and ½ inches long. There is a hemstitched detail at the end of the shawl, accomplished while on the loom, followed by an 8 inch French twisted fringe on each end. I have already washed this shawl, to tighten the fibers, and I recommend handwashing in cool water and mild soap, rinsing well, (using fabric softener occasionally if you wish), squeezing out the excess water between two terry towels and line drying.
